2024 Presidential Elections: Candidate Outouma Antoine Soumare Chairs Electoral Rally in Tidjikja

On 19 June, Mr. Outouma Antoine Souleymane Soumare, the candidate for the 2024 presidential elections, chaired an electoral rally in Tidjikja, during which he reviewed his electoral program.

He explained that the Wilaya of Tagant is the only Wilaya that does not have borders with any country. “It is the centerpiece of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, as it contains the city of resistance and men of liberation from the colonialists.”

Candidate Outouma Antoine Soumare criticized the economic policy pursued by the current government, as it relies on loans to finance projects that often fail, and the debts remain on the shoulders of future generations, as he put it.

He called on the residents to change outdated mentalities and possess scientific and practical means to “possess sovereignty and not be dependent on foreigners.”

He said that the Taazour Delegation failed to address the problem of poverty, considering that the solution to this problem lies in following the Islamic Sharia approach by activating the duty of Zakah, which is money taken from the rich Muslims and distributed to the poor of the country, which is sufficient to solve the problem of poverty.

He renewed his call to candidate Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani to hold a television debate to present their electoral programs to the people to choose who they deem best suited to lead the country during the next five years.

In turn, members of the campaign of candidate Outouma Antoine Souleymane Soumare criticized the economic, social, and health conditions in Mauritania.

They stressed that the solution to these problems lies in voting for the candidate of the alternation generation on 29 June 2024.

Mr. Soumare attended a sports evening in Atar on Wednesday night, during which he handed over several prizes to some of the winning sports teams in football competitions.

During his presence with members of sports clubs, the candidate stressed the importance of practicing sports, especially football, because of its benefits to public health.

He explained that the presence of residents in cities and the lack of exercise led to the spread of diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
