2024 Presidential Elections: Candidate Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani Presents Electoral Program Features to Residents of Gorgol
On 19 June, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazouani, the candidate for the 2024 presidential elections, reviewed during an electoral rally organized by his campaign in the city of Kaedi the achievements that have been accomplished in Mauritania during the past five years and the general features of the program that he will implement during the second term if he wins the upcoming elections.
He said that the country had been able, during that period, to adopt a unique social development model in which priority was given to the vulnerable classes of society, implement several ambitious programs to improve the performance of the educational system, and construct and re-equip health, electrical, and water facilities, in addition to building and renovating an urban and national road network and creating conditions to promote the agricultural sector.
He added that during the next term, he will focus on making Mauritania a strong, just, and prosperous state of law and citizenship, with an administration in the service of the citizen, the judiciary in the service of justice, and priority given to the education and employment of youth.
He stressed the need for the country components’ multiplicity to be a source of wealth, unity, cooperation, and solidarity, far from all hateful practices of discrimination, slavery, and factionalism, stressing the need to address the wounds of the past by completing the settlement of the humanitarian issue.
He stated that the investment portfolio in the Wilaya of Gorgol, during the past five years, amounted to MRO 116 billion distributed among various service sectors, in addition to social interventions that allowed 11,000 families to benefit from health insurance, and 13,000 families from cash transfers, in addition to constructing 29 educational institutions and organizing the first edition of the Diewel Festival, providing drinking water to 214 villages within the first component of the Aftout Echarghi project, electrifying 35 rural villages, launching a project to expand electrical networks in some villages of the wilaya, rehabilitating the Boghe-Kaedi road, and launching construction works on the Aftout road (Monguel- Sawata – Barkeol), reclaiming areas and purchasing agricultural equipment worth MRO 13 billion.
He said that he would undertake strong reforms to create the necessary conditions that enable young people to access employment opportunities to enhance their role in building and developing the country, double investments in the state, and direct them in particular to the fields of education, health, and agriculture, increase the number of beneficiaries of health insurance and provide appropriate conditions to enhance the performance of the livestock sector to enhance its contribution to achieving the national approach in the field of food security.
Candidate Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani called on the residents of the wilaya of Gorgol to vote for him in the presidential elections, the first round of which will be held on 29 June, to implement an ambitious development program that will make the country take important steps toward development and growth.
