Senegalese Minister of Fisheries, Maritime Infrastructure and Ports visits Mauritanian Coast Guard Branch in Nouakchott

On Tuesday 4 June, the Minister of Fisheries, Maritime Infrastructure and Ports of the Republic of Senegal, Mrs. Fatou Diouf, visited  within the framework of her current visit to Mauritania, the Mauritanian Coast Guard branch in Nouakchott, where she listened to a detailed presentation on the Mauritanian Coast Guard, the date of construction, its logistical means and its specific tasks of preserving marine wealth through the control of the exclusive economic zone, combating clandestine immigration and combating marine pollution.

The Minister also inspected one of the coast guard stations in the fish market and listened to detailed explanations of its tasks by the commander of the Mauritanian Coast Guard, Captain Cheikh Hameti Lehmoud, before visiting the fishermen’s beach in the fish market and listening to some Senegalese fishermen.

The Minister was accompanied at these stations by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Mr. Sidi Ali Ould Sidi Boubacar, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to Mauritania, Mr. Ndiaye Biram Mbagnik, members of the Senegalese delegation and the accompanying Mauritanian delegation.
