Prime Minister Meets with Environment Ministry Officials
The Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal, held a meeting, Friday in Nouakchott, with the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development and her staff (secretary general, officers in charge of special duties, advisers, inspectors general, directors) and other executives of the department.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Ms. Mariem Bekaye, indicated that the meeting is part of a series of field visits that the Prime Minister is paying to all government services to ensure that these sectors continue to improve to complete, under optimal conditions, the execution of the program of the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould, Cheikh El Ghazouani.
She explained that the Prime Minister’s intervention focused mainly on the importance of the administration in anchoring rights and respecting legal texts which represent a collective reference.
She added that the Prime Minister underlined in his speech that the administration must be at the service of the citizen by facilitating access to the information they wish to obtain and by diligently dealing with all the files which concern them to find practical solutions to their problems.
She noted that the Prime Minister placed particular emphasis on respecting official working hours and the imperative for administrative staff to work in a team spirit, exchange information, induce complementarity between their structures, take ownership of the objectives of the sector, constantly improve their level of competence, and constantly seek excellence.
Ms. Mariem Bekaye indicated to have presented, during the meeting, the results of her department work over the past two years, whose actions are focused on the implementation of the program of the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, in the field of environmental protection and preservation of natural resources.
The minister said she had revealed some of the gaps, particularly in the more complex aspects of environmental protection and the preservation of natural resources, which require specific studies and research.
She added that she had raised the problem of the shortage of qualified human resources facing the regional delegations of her department, a deficit which handicaps the execution and follow-up of certain projects.
However, she said, the Prime Minister’s instructions will be followed, and nothing will be spared for the implementation of the program of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould El Cheikh. El Ghazouani, so that all the projects and actions listed in this regard are carried out with the required efficiency and speed.
During his visit, Mr. Mohamed Bilal Messoud was accompanied by the Minister Secretary General of the Government, the Director of Cabinet of the Prime Minister, and several advisers to the Prime Minister.
