President of Republic Attends Congolese President Swearing-In Ceremony

On 16 April, His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Congolese President-elect, Mr. Denis Sassou-Nguessou, Brazzaville.

His Excellency congratulated his Congolese counterpart on his re-election as President of the Republic of the Congo.

Several leaders of brotherly and friendly countries, representatives of development partners, specialized United Nations agencies, and a number of invitees participated in the ceremony.
The Congolese president was sworn in in a public session of the Congolese Constitutional Court, where the final record of the presidential elections, of which the first round was held on 21 March 2021, was read. These elections were won by President Denis Sassou-Nguessou by more than 87 percent.

The President of the Constitutional Court then decorated the President with the highest honorary award in the Republic of the Congo, marking the start of his official duties as President of the Republic of the Congo for a new five-year term.

After he was sworn in, the Congolese president said he would translate into deeds his pledges to the country in terms of justice and solidarity as President of all Congolese, promising a presidential term that takes care of the youth and enhances the security, stability, development, and prosperity of the Republic of the Congo.
