On 23 May, His Excellency General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, the Transitional President of the Republic of Gabon, arrived in Nouakchott at the start of a two-day friendly and working visit to Mauritania.
The Gabonese host was welcomed at the Nouakchott International Airport by His Excellency Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and Chairman of the African Union, surrounded by the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Massoud, the Minister in Charge of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic, the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed and Security Forces, the Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, the Wali of Nouakchott West, and the Vice President of the Nouakchott region.
After listening to the Mauritanian and Gabonese national anthems and reviewing the military formations that came to present the honors, the Gabonese President shook hands with the Speaker of the National Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Council, the two Ministers Counselors at the Presidency of the Republic, members of the Government, state dignitaries, and members of the African diplomatic corps accredited to Mauritania.
