On 11 May, in Kiffa, His Excellency Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, supervised the inauguration of the project to increase the production of drinking water in the city from the Bougadoum field.
The project will make available new quantities of drinking water of 2000 m3 per day.
The project components include the construction and equipment of 5 boreholes in the Bougadoum field, the acquisition and installation of pipes with a diameter varying between 110 and 200, the construction and equipment of a water tower of 500 m3, the construction of a pumping station with a capacity of 95 m3 per hour, the installation of water transport pipes with a diameter of 315 m3 over a length of 57 kilometers, the construction and equipment of a water tower with a length of 20 m and a capacity of 1200m3, the creation of a network with a length of 7 kilometers and diameters varying between 63 and 660, in addition to 7 points of water distribution in the city.
The overall cost of this project amounted to 1.5 billion ouguiyas co-financed by the Mauritanian State and the World Bank.
