Mauritania Participates in “Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration and Exploitation Technologies” Conference Kicks Off in Houston, USA

The activities of the conference and exhibition “Technologies for the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas in offshore areas (OTC) began on Monday in Houston, Texas, with the participation of delegations from the Ministry of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, the Mauritanian Hydrocarbon Company and private sector companies working in the field of services related to oil and gas projects.
The energy sector, at the initiative of the Mauritanian Hydrocarbon Company SMH, set up for the first time a special pavilion for Mauritania at this international conference, with the aim of highlighting Mauritania’s significant potential in the field of oil, gas and renewable energies, in close cooperation with the US diplomatic mission accredited in Nouakchott.
The necessary measures were taken to organize various activities within the pavilion during the conference, in parallel with the many pavilions set up by national private companies to introduce their services and areas of intervention in support of local content.
During the conference, which runs from Monday (May 6th to Thursday May 9th), the Mauritanian delegation will hold several meetings with energy companies and investors to introduce investment opportunities in Mauritania, promote oil and gas exploration and exploitation, and present the advantages and opportunities offered by the country’s investment climate.
Mauritania has a coastal basin with high indicators of the presence of large oil and gas potentials, as this basin has recently witnessed several oil and gas discoveries in different regions of it.
The Mauritanian coastal basin contains several world-class fields, the most important of which are in terms of stock and commercial advantages, the “BirAlla field ” and the “Great Turtle Ahmeyim” one under development, making the Mauritanian offshore areas one of the promising areas for investment in the field of oil and gas extraction and production.
