Democratic Opposition Leader Mr. Brahim Ould El Bekaye paid a visit, on Friday, to some public, economic, and service structures in Nouadhibou.
The leader of the democratic opposition began his field visits with the Autonomous Port of Nouadhibou, where he received explanations on the role of the port in the development of the wilaya of Dakhlet-Nouadhibou.
The delegation also visited the Rest Bay Port (Baie du Repos), where it followed a presentation on this institution, the social aspects of the port, and its role in job creation, as well as on its future development plans.
During a meeting with the administrative staff of the port, Mr. Brahim Ould El Bekaye underlined the complementary role that the opposition must play in helping the authority value the achievements made, criticize the shortcomings, and work to overcome them, insisting on the need to be critical to develop the Mauritanian state and improve its performance, urging to avoid criticizing for the sake of criticism.
The leader of the democratic opposition ended his tour by visiting the headquarters of the Regional Council of the wilaya of Nouadhibou, where he held a meeting with the members of the council in the presence of the Secretary General of the regional council.
During this meeting, the vice-president of the council, Mr. Hmeida Ould Soueieh, stressed the importance of activating more regional councils to contribute to the development efforts, noting that he relies on the role that the institution of the democratic opposition can play in this regard.
The delegation of the democratic opposition institution included the director of cabinet of the leader and other officials of this structure.
