Commemoration of the International Day of Creativity and Innovation

The Minister of Digital Transformation, Innovation and Modernization of Administration, Mohamed Abdellah Louly, oversaw Thursday in Nouakchott the commemoration of the International Day of Creativity and Innovation, which coincides with the International Day of Girls in Information and Communication Technology.
The day aims to encourage young girls and young women to study in the field of technology, pursue careers in the field of technology, and give them the most appropriate opportunity to discover these professions, through training and workshops organized and supervised by specialists in the field.
In a speech on the occasion, the Minister explained that the Ministry is working to develop various fields related to digital transformation and innovation, in line with the instructions of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, aimed at encouraging the emergence of a network of small and medium enterprises seeking entrepreneurship, innovation and new technologies.
He said that the commemoration of the International Day of Creativity and Innovation, which coincides with the International Day of Girls in ICT, is an occasion through which the sector invites entrepreneurs and innovators to think best about how to exploit the potential in the field of innovative technology.
He added that the ministry, in cooperation with the Higher Institute of Digitalization, will organize training days in the field of information technology for young girls from all districts of Nouakchott, in addition to a group of young girls from vulnerable social groups or with disabilities.
He recalled that Mauritania has strong potential in the field of innovation and creativity due to the current dynamism of the development of projects implemented by young people, and thanks to the great efforts made by the Government to encourage innovation.
He pointed out that the celebration of the International Day of Girls in Technology aims to empower girls and encourage them to continue studies and research, especially in the professions related to information and communication technology.
The commemoration ceremony took place in the presence of the Director of the Higher Institute for Digitization, directors of various public and private institutions, representatives of the private sector, and representatives of actors in the innovation ecosystem.
