High-level Emirati Delegation Visits Nouadhibou Free Zone

The president of the Nouadhibou Free Zone Authority (AZFN), Mr. Mohamed Aly Ould Sidi Mohameda, received, Thursday, a high-level delegation from the State of the United Arab Emirates, comprising several investors and businessmen.

AZFN president welcomed the Emirati delegation, stressing the importance of the partnership between Mauritania and the United Arab Emirates and the will of the Nouadhibou Free Zone to cooperate with this sisterly state.

The delegation then followed a detailed presentation on the Nouadhibou Free Zone and the investment prospects it offers as well as on the main projects completed or underway.

For his part, the head of the Emirati delegation made a presentation on the objectives of his delegation’s visit, before talking about his company and possible areas of cooperation between the two parties, stressing the importance of partnership and investment in Mauritania.

At the end of the meeting, the delegation visited the Baie du Repos (Rest Bay) Port where it followed a presentation by Mr. Mohamed Vall Ould Youssef on the port establishment, its social aspects, and its role in the creation of jobs.

The delegation also visited the Autonomous Port of Nouadhibou where it was welcomed by the Director General, Mr. Ahamdeit Ould Cheikna. On site, the delegation heard a detailed briefing on the possible cooperation prospects between the port and the United Arab Emirates.

The delegation then went to the site where the deep-water port will soon be built. It ended its tour with a visit to SNIM where it was briefed on the mining company, its history, and the investment opportunities offered.

In all these visits, the delegation was accompanied by Mr. Sidi Maouloud Ould Brahim, AZFN Secretary General, Mr. Habiboullah Mohamed Ahmed, officer in charge of special duties at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Production Sectors, and several officials of the Nouadhibou Free Zone.
