The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received Thursday the credentials of Mr. Anjani Kumar, as the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of India to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
After the presentation of credentials, the President of the republic held a meeting with the Indian diplomat in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
After the meeting, the Indian ambassador made a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency, in which he said that he was honored to present his credentials to His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
The Indian diplomat declared that he expressed to the President of the Republic “India’s keenness to extend and develop the Partnership with Mauritania”.
He added that India has announced that it would be opening its Embassy in Nouakchott. In this regard, “I hope that this will happen in the coming months’’, he said.
As for the COVID-19 vaccines, the ambassadors revealed that 69600 Covishield Indian-made vaccines will arrive in Mauritania on the fourteenth of April.
He pointed out that he shared with the president India’s will to cooperate with Mauritania within the framework of the international solar coalition because ’’ Mauritania has a tremendous potential for harvesting solar energy’’, he declared.

– Ms. Fatimetou Mint Cheikhna, Director of Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.
