On 2 April, in Dakar, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and Chairman of the African Union (AU), attended the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect of Senegal, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
The President of the Republic was received with great affability upon his arrival at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center in Jamnado, where the swearing-in ceremony took place to mark the participation of His Excellency as well as the leaders of several countries and representatives of regional and international organizations.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of Senegal announced the victory of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye as president of the country for a five-year term during the 24 March elections.
Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani had a telephone conversation with his brother, Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, shortly after the presidential elections, during which he expressed his congratulations to him on the great confidence placed in him by the Senegalese people and his joy at the atmosphere of calm and responsibility which characterized these elections, saluting the maturity of the Senegalese people and the longevity of their democratic experience. He also conveyed his congratulations on behalf of the African Union and wished him every success in his duties.
