President of Republic Holds Telephone Talks With Angolan Counterpart

On 27 March, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and Chairman of the African Union, had telephone talks with His Excellency Mr. Joao Lourenço, the President of the Republic of Angola.

The talks addressed some regional issues of common interest. In this regard, the AU Chairman expressed his support for the mediation efforts undertaken by President Joao Lourenço as Vice President of the African Union to restore peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

During the telephone call, the two leaders discussed coordination within the Office of the Presidency of the African Union, the body of which the Republic of Angola is the first Vice President.
