Oil Minister Holds Meeting With German Government Commissioner for Green Hydrogen

On 20 March, in Berlin, Mr. Nani Ould Chrougha, the Minister of Oil, Mines, and Energy, government spokesperson, held a working meeting with Mr. Till Mansmann, the Commissioner for Green Hydrogen at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed aspects of bilateral cooperation between Mauritania and Germany, particularly in the education field, from an energy point of view.

The meeting also addressed the training offer and skills improvement in Mauritania in the green hydrogen field and renewable energies in general.

The talks resulted in an agreement to support and build the capacities of the ESP (Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique) and the University of Nouakchott, the submission of scholarship applications for Mauritanian students and exchanges of experience at the university level, which the German government will study with interest.

The agreement also concerns the launch of a pilot project to benefit from ongoing work in the field of hydrogen and strengthen the confidence of the German government in the commitments of the Mauritanian government.

The two parties also studied the possibility of creating a subsidiary in Mauritania specializing in renewable energies and green hydrogen.

The Conjuncta/infinity/Masdar coalition attended the meeting, committing to supporting basic infrastructure in Mauritania.
