Message from President of Republic to Head of Libya’s Presidency Council

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, delivered, Saturday, in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, a written message from His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani to his brother, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Al-Manfi, Head of the Presidential Council of the brotherly state of Libya.

During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the support of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania for the brothers in the State of Libya and his satisfaction with the political agreement reached in Geneva.

Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed affirmed that his visit to Libya took place at this precise moment to express the will of the President of the Republic to encourage and support the new Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity and to contribute to the realization of the aspirations of the Libyan people for security, stability, and development, while preserving their national unity, sovereignty, and the integrity of their territory from any foreign interference so that Libya can play its central role at the regional and international levels.

In his response, the Head of Libya’s Presidency Council expressed his thanks and gratitude to His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania for this visit paid at this important and decisive stage, stressing his council’s will to develop and strengthen bilateral relations and to promote coordination and consultation on the regional and international scene, whether through the Arab Maghreb Union, the League of Arab States, or the African Union.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ms. Najla Al Manqouch, and Mr. Itawaloumrou Mohamed Lamine, Chargé d’affaires at our Embassy in Tripoli.
