Mauritania and Algeria Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Create Bilateral Border Committee

The Minister of Interior and Decentralization, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug and his Algerian counterpart Mr. Mr. Kamel Beldjoud , signed today, Thursday, a memorandum of understanding to create a bilateral border committee between the two countries.

The creation of this committee, which deals mainly with issues related to the border area between the two countries, aims at promoting and developing cooperation and strengthening the brotherly ties and the good neighborly relations between the two countries.

In a speech on this occasion, the minister of interior and cooperation stressed that the signing of this memorandum reflects the strong will of the leaders of the two brotherly countries, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and His Excellency Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to boost and develop the relations of Cooperation.

On his part, the Algerian minister of Interior, Local Assemblies, and Territory Management pointed out that the creation of this committee will contribute tremendously to addressing the dual challenge of “development and security” by proposing new efficient ways to meet the current challenges.
