Chinese Embassy in Nouakchott Organizes Ceremony to Commemorate the Arrival of the First Chinese Medical Mission to Mauritania

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China organized, yesterday evening at the embassy headquarters in Nouakchott, a ceremony to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the arrival of the first Chinese medical mission to Mauritania.

In his speech on the occasion, the Acting Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health, Cheikh Bai M’khetiratt, explained that this event reflects the depth of the distinguished relations between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the People’s Republic of China, stressing that the successive medical missions attended by members of its thirty-fifth team, accompanied several stages of the history of the establishment of the Mauritanian state, the construction and equipping of hospitals in the capital and inside the country, in addition to sending medical missions, preparing convoys in various medical specialties, and training and training national cadres working in the field of Health.

For his part, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yong chao, said China is making great efforts with Mauritania to implement the will of the leaders of the two countries, continue to strengthen their mutual exchange and cooperation in medicine, health and other fields, and jointly promote friendly cooperation between the two countries to achieve more fruitful results.

The Chinese medical team in Mauritania will continue to carry forward in its excellent manner and make contributions to the development of medical and health service in Mauritania, he said, stressing that bilateral relations between the two countries have witnessed a traditional friendship throughout history, and the two countries have achieved fruitful results in medical, health and other fields.
