The Nouakchott Region Organizes two Seminars on Water and Urban Mobility in Nouakchott at the Climate Summit (COP 28)

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Nouakchott Region organized two seminars on its efforts to save water, as well as urban mobility in the capital, Nouakchott, at the Mauritanian pavilion at the Climate Summit (COP28) in Dubai, UAE.

The first symposium included a presentation on the urban mobility plan completed by the Nouakchott region, which is considered an effective model for organizing the transportation sector and road infrastructure. It also touched on exemplary activities implemented in reality, including two transportation lines to connect the outskirts of the city with each other and lighting it with solar energy poles.

The second presentation at the symposium was about the project to access drinking water in the peripheral neighborhoods of the capital, in partnership with Swiss and French cities. This project is considered a model of successful partnership between local communities and a solution to the problem of thirst among thousands of families in the peripheral neighborhoods.

The two presentations were admired by the participants in the discussions, as the President of the Nouakchott Region Ms. Fatimettou Mint Abd El Malik Manswered various questions and inquiries from the attendees, including mayors, heads of regions, and national and international experts, including the COP26 Ambassador in North and West Africa, the President of the Moroccan Association of Regions, the Mayor of Brazzaville and the Mayor of Bangui, in addition to Members of the Mauritanian delegation and Chairman of the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee of the Regional Council of Nouakchott.
