President of Republic Chairs the Ceremony of Raising the National Flag in Commemoration of the 63rd Anniversary of National Independence

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazouani, chaired, this Tuesday morning, at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, the ceremony of raising the national flag, in commemoration of the 63rd anniversary of National Independence Day.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Massoud, the President of the National Assembly, Mr. Mohamed Bembe Meguet, the President of the Constitutional Council, Mr. Diallo Mamadou Batia, the President of the Democratic Opposition Foundation, Mr. Hammadi Sayed Al-Mukhtar, the Commander of the Special Staff of the President of the Republic, Lieutenant General Isselkou Sheikh El-Weli, and the Governor of West Nouakchott, Head of the Nouakchott region.

His Excellency the President of the Republic, accompanied by the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Hanenne Ould Sidi, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mokhtar Bellah Chaabane, reviewed, to the tunes of military music, units of the land, sea, and air army, the National Gendarmerie, the National Guard, and the National Police, where they gave him a salute of honor.

His Excellency then shook hands with the chiefs of staff of the armed forces and security forces, senior officers, the former head of state, former prime ministers, the minister-general of the Presidency of the Republic, the minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, the two ministers-advisers of the Presidency of the Republic, members of the government, heads of constitutional bodies, and high-ranking figures in the country.

The state, heads and representatives of national political and trade union formations, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations accredited in Mauritania, and military attaches to embassies in Nouakchott.

After that, the flag of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania was raised in the sky of the city of Nouakchott by two members of the honor ceremony in the National Gendarmerie, to the tune of the national anthem.
