President of Republic: The Dakar International Forum Keeps Sending Back to us, Over the Years, the Image of an Africa Resolutely Determined to Take Charge of Itself

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, said, on Monday, that the Dakar International Forum continues to send back to us, over the years: the image of an Africa resolutely determined to take charge of itself, to reflect on its own challenges and the socio-cultural and economic dynamics that underpin them.

The President of the Republic, who is speaking at the Dakar International Forum for Peace and Security in Africa, also stressed the topicality and relevance of the theme to which this ninth edition of the forum is dedicated: “Africa of potentials and solutions to security challenges and institutional instability”.

He added that the forum, by the magnitude of its success, admirably illustrates all the foresight and leadership of his friend and brother, His Excellency President Macky Sall.

On the subject of the continent, the President of the Republic stressed that the most striking contrast lies in the enormous gap between, on the one hand, its extraordinary potential in terms of natural resources, its geostrategic position and young and dynamic human resources, which should have made it an area of peace, stability and development, and, on the other hand, its objective reality, often made up of poverty, underdevelopment, insecurity and social and institutional instability.
