UAE Announces Continued Efforts to Build University of Scientific Specialties in Nouakchott

The United Arab Emirates announced on Tuesday the continuation of efforts to establish a university for scientific disciplines in the capital Nouakchott, with the aim of providing the Mauritanian labor market with the necessary academic, technical and professional competencies.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said in a statement received by the Mauritanian News Agency (AMI ) a copy of it that the new university will be built in the province of Toujounine on an area of 23,377 square meters, and its capacity will reach 1,500 students with the possibility of increasing its capacity during the coming period.

The university includes the following disciplines: information engineering, electrical, mechanical and civil engineering, metallurgical engineering, oil and gas and other disciplines needed by the Mauritanian labor market, and includes all service facilities.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE Minister of Education, stressed that this step reflects the depth of the historical brotherly relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

It is worth noting that His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, had previously announced during his visit to Mauritania on July 7, 2023, the intention of the United Arab Emirates to establish the University of Scientific Disciplines in Mauritania.
