The Minister of Social Action, Childhood and Family, Safia mint Entehah, reviewed on Monday before the sixty-eighth session of the Ministerial Consultative Meeting of the African Preliminary Commission on the Status of Women, hosted in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, the legal and institutional measures taken by Mauritania to promote women’s empowerment and to combat violence against women and girls.
The ministerial consultative meeting of the African Preliminary Commission on the Status of Women aims to build consensus on strategies and actions to ensure that women and girls in Africa are not left behind in development policies aimed at eradicating poverty.
During this meeting, they also discussed and adopted expert reports on the Solemn Declaration on Gender Equality, the High-Level Presidential Initiative on Positive Masculinity in Leadership to End Violence against Women and Girls, as well as the African Union Commission’s Report on Women, Peace and Security.
