Nouakchott -17/09/2020 -(AMI).The First National Army Unit from the fifth peace keeping battallion left this Thursday morning 17 September to the Central African Republic.
This unit which comprises a number of Officers ,Staff Officers, and Soldiers was waved goodbye at the (Oumtounsy) International Aireport by General Mohamed Vall Maayif and the third chief of general army staff Marine Admiral Ahmed Ould Ben Aouf.
This first unit of ninety six (96)elements is the first batch of the fifth peace keeping unit out of four hundreds fifty elements (450) of the national army that will follow its arrival to Bangui during next month to participate in the peace keeping units under the united nations flag in the Central African Republic.
In a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency (AMI),the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense announced that this batch is high in spirit and has obtained all means to accomplish the task and present Mauritania perfectly.
He added that Mauritanian Army is used to such missions,and has good reputation and will present Mauritania ALLAH willing perfectly.
It should be noted that Mauritania had participated in peace keeping forces in Central African Republic ,which witnesses security unrest from time to time,with differents Army Units,Gendarmes and National Guards..
