Minister of Foreign Affairs Oversees the Opening of the International Conference on “Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment”
Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, in his capacity as Rotating Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, inaugurated, on Monday in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the opening of the International Conference on “Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment”, organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On this occasion, the Minister delivered a speech in which he stressed that the empowerment of women in our Islamic societies should occupy a prominent place in any strategic vision that seeks to achieve the desired renaissance.
The Minister referred to the continuous efforts of the Mauritanian government, under the high directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to empower women at various political, economic and social levels.
