Minister of Economy Signs Amendment to Mauritania – USA Assistance Agreement

On 5 October, in Nouakchott, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, proceeded with HE Ms.  Cynthia Kierscht, the Ambassador of the United States of America, and the Director of the USAID office in Mauritania, to the signing of an amendment to the assistance agreement signed between the two countries in 2016.

This amendment concerns an amount of twelve million one hundred and fifty-nine thousand six hundred and eighty-two US dollars, the equivalent of approximately four hundred sixty-two million MRU.

This funding aims to create diversified and increased economic opportunities for young people, strengthen their civic engagement and leadership skills, strengthen the health system, promote better access to quality family planning services, and develop the livestock and agriculture sectors.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development took this opportunity to express to the people and government of the United States of America the sincere thanks of the Mauritanian people and government for the level and quality of its commitment to our country to lay the foundations for sustainable development.
