On 2 October, the Minister of Environment, Ms. Lalya Aly Kamara, returned to Nouakchott from Dakar after participating in the meeting of ministers in charge of environment within the group of least developed countries, which took place held as part of the preparatory meetings for the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change, scheduled for next November in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This meeting made public the ‘Dakar Declaration’, which defines the position and priorities of the least developed countries for the Conference of the Parties in the areas of adaptation, resilience, and financing, including the appropriate mechanism to address concerns of these countries in terms of special funds targeting losses.
