The Minister of National Defense, Mr. Hanenna Ould Sidi, participated, in N’Djamena, in the meetings of defense ministers and chiefs of staff of the armies of the G-5 Sahel countries, whose work ended, Sunday, in the Chadian capital.
The meeting of the G-5 Sahel Defense Ministers and their French partners of the Barkhane force aimed to make important decisions on the planning of operations and the use of air assets to address all security threats, especially in the area of the three borders (Mali-Burkina Faso-Niger).
The meeting was held two weeks after the VII ordinary session of the G-5 Sahel Conference of Heads of State in the Chadian capital, which discussed ways and means to consolidate cooperation in the fight against terrorism and the capacity building of defense and security units operating in the group’s space.
The meeting also decided to deploy a Chadian military unit to strengthen the security system in the central sector, which includes the border area between Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
The Minister of National Defense was accompanied, during these meetings, by General El Moctar Bella Chaabane, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
