Foreign Minister Receives High-Level AU Election Observation Mission

On 11 May, in Nouakchott, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, met with a high-level mission of the African Union (AU) for theobservation of the elections, led by Ambassador Calixte Aristide Mbari, the Head of the Division of Democracy, Governance, Human Rights and Elections of the Political Affairs Department in the African Union Commission (AUC).

The meeting examined various issues related to the strengthening of cooperation between Mauritania and the AU and the means to ensure the success of the mission of the delegation to monitor the legislative, regional, and municipal elections scheduled for 13 May 2023.
