Prime Minister Chairs Meeting of Inter-Ministerial Committee on COVID-19

The Inter-ministerial committee in charge of monitoring COVID-19 met, on Friday in Nouakchott, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal.

The meeting was devoted to the review of the latest developments in the health situation and the preparations underway to begin vaccination.

The Minister of Health, Mr. Mohamed Nedhirou Ould Hamed, made a presentation on recent data on the epidemiological situation in the country, which is characterized by the reversal of the curve reflecting a notable reduction in the number of confirmed cases of contamination.

“This is made possible thanks to Allah, by the measures taken to fight the pandemic and the effective management of cases of contamination”.

Mr. Mohamed Nedhirou Ould Hamed also gave explanations on the vaccination methods adopted, especially the timely acquisition of vaccines throughout the country and the mobilization of the necessary human and logistical resources.

Finally, the Inter-ministerial committee called for taking all the necessary measures and mobilizing the necessary resources to expedite the vaccination operations, under safe and organized conditions and in compliance with internationally recognized health standards.
