Nouakchott Hosts Training Work, Symposium on Media Freedom, Journalists? Safety

On 12 June in Nouakchott, Mr. Khattar Ould Cheibani, the Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with Parliament, supervised a training workshop and an international symposium on the importance of respecting freedom of the press, protecting journalists, and ensuring their safety in the field during the coverage of events.

The 5-day meeting is organized by the Union of Mauritanian Journalists, in cooperation with the Al Jazeera Center for Public Liberties and Human Rights and the United Nations Center for Training and Documentation in the Field of Human Rights under the theme “Freedom of the Press: the common good between right and responsibility”.

The meeting aims to discuss the reality of the media and exchange experiences and expertise between participants from different countries around the world.
