Consultation Days on Mining Strategies Concluded

The consultations days on mining strategies, organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Oil, Energy and Mines, ended Tuesday 24 November in Nouakchott.

In a speech made on the occasion, on behalf of the Minister, the General Director of Mines, M. Mohamed Lemine Ould Moustapha, affirmed that the mining sector is contributing to the raise of national GDP, “thus making us find strategies for the development of this vital sector, which will bring about enrichment to the country and foreign investors”, he said.

He added that building long terms strategies will allow to have a vision about the sector progress in the future.
It will also improve the level of human resources competences, environmental criteria, and ensure transparency and good leadership, local exploitation zones development, and attract more investors.

He stressed that the presentations made during the previous two days and the deliberations that followed showed the need for Mauritania to better prepare for the future challenges posed by oil and the processing industries.
