Foreign Affairs Minister Participates in a High Level Meeting About Libya

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mauritanians Abroad M Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed attended a meeting in New York on the sides of the United Nations seventy sixth session called by Libya to view latest political developments.
The meeting under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohamed Al-Manvi, President of the Presidential Council in Libya, discussed peace prospects with the participation of foreign ministers of the neighbouring countries of Libya and African countries concerned with peace in Libya: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania, Egypt, Sudan, Chad, Mali, Niger, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congo, South Africa, Kenya, and the African Union.
In his intervention and on behalf of his Excellency the president of the republic M .Mohamed Ould Cheikh ElGhazouani ,the foreign minister congratulates the , President of the Presidential Council in Libya for organising this important meeting .He also thanked the high level African committee chairman on peace for Libya His Excellency Mr. Denis Sasongisou, President of the Republic of the Congo, for the efforts he is making to resolve the Libyan situation, as well as the efforts made by neighbouring countries, the African Union and the United Nations, pointing out that our country is ready to be a part Efforts to restore stability in Libya.
He added that Mauritania follows and is concerned deeply to what is going on in the brotherly state of Libya, mainly the cease fire and the signing of the Geneva Accord and hopes for smooth elections process.
The meeting was attended, in addition to the Minister, by Mr. Sidi Ould Mohamed Laghdaf, the Permanent Representative of our country to the United Nations, and Mr. El Hassan Ahmedou El Hussein, Senior Adviser to the mission.
