Launch of the first Edition of the Likwarib Festival for Culture and Heritage

Last night in the city of Rosso, the first edition of the Lekwarb Festival for Culture and Heritage was launched. The festival lasts for three days and includes musical and folkloric performances, exhibitions of manuscripts, local products, and crafts, as well as intellectual and cultural seminars, training workshops for youth, and an exhibition of local dishes.

The official in charge of missions at the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Communication and Relations with Parliament, Mr. Yahya Ould Ahmedou, stated, during his supervision of the festival’s inauguration, that this event brings together the masterpieces of the past and the spirit of the present, aiming to preserve and enhance the rich cultural heritage of the Wilaya of Trarza and its capital Rosso, and to celebrate the Mauritanian people in their diversity and creativity.

He added that the festival falls within the framework of implementing the program of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, “My Ambition for the Nation,” in the fields of arts, cultural diversity, heritage, and coexistence, as it reflects national unity.

For his part, the Mayor of Rosso, Mr. Bamba Ould Derham, expressed his happiness for the city hosting this festival in its first edition, expressing his hope that it would reflect the cultural background of the city of Rosso, which has produced generations of professionals and contributed to various fields of development.

Yesterday evening, the delegation supervising the festival visited an exhibition of local products and another of national manuscripts, organized by the Arab Manuscript House Association for the preservation of heritage and the environment and the fight against extremism.
