Chairperson of G-5 Sahel Council of Ministers Supervises Inauguration of New Executive Secretary

The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of the G5 Sahel, the Chadian Minister of Economy, Development, Planning,and International Cooperation, Dr. Issa Doubragne, supervised Tuesday with the Minister of Economic Affairs and the Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr. Ousmane Mamoudou Kane, in Nouakchott, the inauguration of the new Executive Secretary of the Group, Mr. Eric Yemdaogo Tiare.

The new Executive Secretary of the Groups was recently appointed by the President in Office of the group, General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, President of the Transitional Council in Chad, to succeed Mr. Maman Sidikou.

In his speech on the occasion, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors welcomed the guests of Mauritania from the sisterly member countries of the group, stressing hits keenness and constant readiness to work with everyone for the perpetuation of security, stability and development in the space of the group.

In his turn, the chairperson of the council of ministers of the G5 Sahel expressed his great honor to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Executive Secretary, stressing the continuation of the group’s ambitious project through its vision to create a space for peace and prosperity within the framework of its strategy to provide security and development.

For his part, the new Executive Secretary of the group expressed his thanks to the President in Office and through him to the heads of state and government of the member countries for the confidence they placed in him, stressing that since the establishment of this regional organization in 2014 in Mauritania, he has been following the magnitude of the security and economic challenges facing the region.

As for the outgoing Executive Secretary, he recalled the important steps taken by the group since its establishment in 2014, especially at the level of the executive secretariat, which formed an effective link between the member states and the group’s partners.
