President of Government of Canary Islands: “Meeting with Mauritania’s Highest Authority Great Success of Our Visit”.
In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI) following the meeting with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Republic, he said that the delegation accompanying him was a high-level academic, scientific, business, and institutional delegation, comprising more than 70 personalities, who had expressed their interest in this visit to Mauritania, the first of a series of visits he will make.
“We will continue to deepen all these aspects and programs we have of good neighbor cooperation such as the MAC program from 2021 to 2027, financed with over 200 million euros, in addition to ten projects to be developed in the blue economy, fishing waters? and agriculture in Mauritania and the Canary Islands in the Micronesian region,” he said.
The President of the Canary Islands Government said, “We were also able to talk about efforts linked to irregular migration, Mauritania being a transit zone like the Canary Islands, hence the importance of European and Spanish cooperation with Mauritania on this issue and the need to continue and consolidate coordination.”
On the subject of training, the President of the Canary Islands Government affirmed that he would be addressing this with the Minister of Vocational Training and that he had previously had a meeting with the Minister of Youth Empowerment to link training to employment, indicating that there are agricultural programs, water treatment programs, and renewable energy programs that will be the subject of projects to be studied in depth.
He added: “In the field of academic and scientific exchanges, the President of the University of La Laguna, who was part of the delegation, will be reaching out to consider the exchange of doctoral students or university graduates, and tomorrow we have a meeting planned with the chambers of entrepreneurs, and we have high hopes for these meetings.”
