Mauritania’s Delegate to the African Union chairs Regular Session of Permanent Delegates

Her Excellency Khadija M’barek Fall, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to Ethiopia and Permanent Delegate to the African Union (AU), chaired on Tuesday at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa the work of the Ordinary Session of Permanent Delegates, in preparation for the Executive Council meeting scheduled for February 12 and 13, and the Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held on February 15 and 16, 2025 in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
In her opening speech, the Ambassador noted that the Executive Council session and the upcoming summit, for which preparations are being made starting today, will be characterized by a major and important event that requires all of us to commit to ensuring its success, namely the election of the leadership of our Commission, hoping that these elections will be transparent, fair and calm, stressing that it is choosing the best candidates capable of leading the African Union and continuing to work to achieve the aspirations of the peoples of the continent towards development, prosperity and integration.
She added that this session will address a number of important issues included in the reports of the sub-committees, the final reports of the specialized technical committees, the reports of the Commission and other specialized structures and agencies, as well as the reports submitted by member states. In addition to the draft decisions of the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council.
At the end of her speech, Her Excellency called on everyone to ensure that the discussions are characterized by a high level of responsibility and seriousness, with focus, precision and flexibility, to ensure that the work is completed on time and in the best possible manner.
