Beninaji: New Power Plant Put into Service

The Director General of the Mauritanian Electricity Company (SOMELEC) and his counterpart of the National Water Company (SNDE) visited Beninaji on 24 April 2021. They attended the commissioning of the new 3MW emergency power plant that SOMELEC has just installed to secure the electricity supply to the Beninaji water pumping station, which supplies the city of Nouakchott with drinking water.

The two directors were keen to ensure that this plant can support these vital stations as well as the city of Keur Macene and local industrial subscribers, in the event of an interruption of the Manantali HV line, which supplies these infrastructures.
