On 25 April, in Nouakchott, Mr. Nani Ould Chrougha, the Minister of Oil, Mines, and Energy, government spokesperson, signed three memoranda of understanding with European companies to develop projects linked to hydrogen Green.
The first memorandum, signed with the Spanish “Alcomia Quantium Hydrogen” company, concerns the launch of a green steel production project in Mauritania, while the second memorandum, signed with the Spanish “Jabri” company, concerns the launch of a green hydrogen pilot project, and the third memorandum signed with the Italian “Emax” company aims to launch a pilot project, the first of its kind in Africa, aimed at evaluating the possibility of manufacturing electrolyzers in Mauritania.
The MoUs were signed on the sidelines of the visit of a high-level delegation of European companies and operators to Nouakchott to explore investment opportunities in energy, particularly hydrogen.
