On Tuesday 19 December in Nouakchott, a national workshop to launch the development of the national strategy for disaster risk reduction in Mauritania has began.
The workshop is organized by the Directorate of Environmental Assessment and Control of the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Agency for Disaster Reduction.
The two-day meeting aims to discuss the process of preparing the strategy.
The strategy covers the period 2024-2030 within the international commitments ratified by Mauritania, mainly related to the “Sendai” framework for disaster risk reduction.
