The Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal, chaired, Thursday evening in Nouakchott, a meeting of the inter-ministerial committee responsible for monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting was devoted to an assessment of the health situation in the country and the progress of the preparations underway for the implementation of the vaccination operation.
In this context, the committee reviewed the health indicators available so far.
It noted that even if these indicators confirm the stability of the epidemiological situation, they necessitate to be vigilant and to remain ready to deal with any eventuality, in accordance with the directives of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
The committee also examined the progress made in the acquisition of the necessary quantities of vaccines, the establishment of a registration platform, and the measures to be taken with a view to the training of the teams responsible for carrying out the operation.
The Prime Minister also stressed the need to ensure the completion of the conditions necessary for the vaccination operation to take place in accordance with the required safety and efficiency provisions, thus preserving the health of citizens, in particular the groups more vulnerable to the virus.
