On 28 February, in Geneva, Mr. Ahmed Salem Ould Bouhoubeyni, the President of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), held a working session with Mr. Matthias Behneck, the Chief, Africa II (West & Central) at Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
During this session, the CNDH President reviewed before the High Commissioner the human rights situation in Mauritania and the measures taken in this regard.
This meeting is part of a series of meetings held by the CNDH President to present the reality of human rights in Mauritania, the progress made, and the challenges to be met.
The meetings were an opportunity for Mr. Bouhoubeyni to invite the world community and international organizations to participate in the campaigns led by the CNDH in the country, which constitute an opportunity to inform them of the situation of human rights to support Mauritania’s efforts to improve the quality of human rights and obtain more support in this area.
It should be noted that the experience presented today before the High Commission is the same as that presented by the CNDH President more than a week ago during a presentation he gave at the Chatham House Institute in London, known in Great Britain since 1929 for organizing public debates.
