On 27 February, in Nouakchott, Mr. Ousmane Mamoudou Kane, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors held a meeting with a delegation from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) led by Ms. Alicia Philips Mandaville, the Vice President of MCC Policy and Evaluation Department, who is currently visiting our country to initiate work between Mauritania and MCC, following our country’s eligibility for the MCC Threshold Program in December 2022.
Inaugurating the work of the meeting, the Minister expressed his appreciation of the high-level mission, visiting our country as part of the beginning of the partnership between Mauritania and MCC.
The minister stressed that the political and economic reforms that have enabled Mauritania to qualify for the MCC “Threshold” program constitute first and foremost a national commitment in the interest of Mauritania, stressing that this relationship will be strengthened and deepened based on this new partnership which will enable our country to benefit from the technical expertise of this pioneering institution.
In turn, Ms. Mandaville hailed the reforms that have enabled our country to benefit from the programs of her institution. She also reviewed the MCC’s approach in the current phase vis-à-vis our country. She also expressed her optimism for the future of cooperation between MCC and Mauritania.
