The work of the first session of the Mauritanian-Algerian security commission started on 26 January in Nouakchott, under the supervision of the two countries’ Interior Ministers.
The creation of this commission follows the holding, on 8 and 9 November 2021, of the first session of the Mauritanian-Algerian joint commission responsible for monitoring the common borders between the two States.
The three-day meeting aims to discuss the possibilities of cooperation and complementarity between the two brotherly countries to diversify and consolidate coordination in all areas related to the fight against organized crime and its harmful consequences on the two countries and the neighborhood, in addition to the road linking Tindouf and Zouerate.
All the military and security sectors involved in the security system take part in this meeting, such as the Gendarmerie, the Guard, the Police, Civil Security and Crisis Management Delegation, and the General Grouping for Road Safety.
