President of Republic Lays Foundation Stone for Madrid Crossroads Interchange, Inaugurates 47-Km Road Network

On 5 January, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, presided over the ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the Carrefour “Madrid” Interchange in the Arafat Moughataa and the inauguration of 47 km from the urban road network in Nouakchott.

The construction of this road interchange will allow the passage of two vehicles in two directions, with a crossing for pedestrians and another for bicycles.

The overall financial envelope for this interchange, which will bear the name “Friendship Interchange”, is 230 million yuan, or MRU 121,900,000, donated by the People’s Republic of China.

Concerning the road network inaugurated today, it consists of 47 km, added to 56 others carried out previously at the level of the city of Nouakchott.
