On 20 December, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received the heads of delegations participating in the Second Regional Forum of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (ICCIA) in Africa, Mr. Tarek Bakhit, the Undersecretary General for Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Affairs of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and Mr. Youssef Khalawi, the ICCIA Secretary General.
In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI) after the meeting, the OIC Undersecretary General indicated that he was honored to meet His Excellency the President of the Republic to whom he transmitted a message from the OIC Secretary General, indicating that the Secretary General affirmed in this message his support for what is being undertaken by the President of the Republic and the Mauritanian government as efforts to strengthen Islamic cooperation and solidarity.
In turn, the ICCIA Secretary General explained that his visit to Mauritania is part of the organization of one of the activities carried out by the Chamber. He noted that the officials of the Chamber are happy to organize this conference in partnership with the Ministry of Social Action, Children, and Family and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Mauritania, expressing his happiness to visit Mauritania.
Mr. Khalawi highlighted the importance of the two agreements signed with Mauritania, which concretize the integrated partnership between the public and private sectors and target the five countries of the Sahel. The two agreements mark the importance and maturity of the private and public sectors in Mauritania, as he put it.
