Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Spanish Counterpart

On 24 November, in Barcelona, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, met his Spanish counterpart, Mr. Jose Manuel Albares Bueno, on the sidelines of the 7th forum of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed issues of common interest and friendly relations between the two countries and ways likely to strengthen them.
In its 7th edition, the forum will discuss the actions recently implemented by UfM and put on the table the upcoming steps to enhance cooperation and facilitate the realization of joint projects.
The forum will also be an opportunity to announce the launch of a new title: The Mediterranean Capitals of Culture. This denomination will concern at each edition two countries of the northern and southern shores.
The idea is to strengthen a common identity of the region in the cultural context while considering societal, economic, and environmental challenges. It also aims to launch the “Medusa” project, which seeks to develop and promote sustainable adventure tourism in the Mediterranean.
