On the initiative of Mr. Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary General, the work of the UN Summit on the Transformation of Education began on 19 September at the UN headquarters in New York.
This summit is supposed to be an opportunity to mobilize ambition, action, solidarity, and the search for solutions to reconsider future education systems and give new impetus to the Sustainable Development Goals and those related to education by 2030.
Ministers of Education attending the summit discussed the issue of recovering from the lack of education due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and getting back on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The summit represents a set of initiatives that seek international partnerships and alliances to contribute to the transformation of education with the participation of member states and international organizations.
These initiatives aim to transform education along five axes namely: Fostering the creation of inclusive, equitable, safe, and healthy schools, supporting learning and life skills, as well as work and sustainable development, and the profession of teacher, digital learning, and transformation, and education finance.
