President of Republic Supervises Mahdara Awards

The President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El GHazouani, supervised Monday morning, at the international convention center in Nouakchott, the awards ceremony of the second edition of the president of the republic’s award for the memorizing and understanding of the Mahdara books (traditional Islamic teaching books).

This award aims at encouraging students to preserve the Mahdara studies, which constitute an important component of the Mauritanian culture and heritage.

The President of the republic handed the first award, which amounts to 5,000,000 old Ouguiyas, to Sidi Ahmed Mohameden Beibah.

As for the second prize, which amounts to 5,000,000 old Ouguiyas, was handed by the Prime Minister to Mohamed Lemine Ould Abeidou El Mamy.

The third prize, which amounts to 300.000 Old Ouguiyas, was given by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Mr. Dah Ould Sidi Amar, to Hamid Hamid Ely.

In their interventions, the three awards-recipients hailed the adoption of this competition, which constituted an incentive for boosting the scientific and knowledge radiation of the Mauritanian Mahadara.
