Ministry of Foreign Affairs Affirms Safety of Mauritanian Students in Ukraine

The committee tasked with monitoring the situation of the Mauritanian community in Ukraine at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians abroad confirmed that after making extensive contacts during the past two days, it was able to reach all Mauritanian students currently in Ukraine. The ministry affirmed the safety of all students, checked their total number and their whereabouts, and obtained copies of their passports.

The committee added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, is following the issue with great interest. He called yesterday two representatives of the students and made a call to his Moroccan counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita. During the call, they agreed to give seats to Mauritanian students as part of the trip program organized by the Kingdom for its citizens in Ukraine on Royal Air Maroc.

As a reminder, this program is limited to flights from neighboring countries of Ukraine due to the current closure of Ukrainian airspace.

The committee confirmed that it is in constant contact with these students and monitoring the developments. It urged the students to be extremely vigilant and not move outside the shelters except for necessity.
